Are you gay or lesbian and living in the South? Then CNN Radio wants to hear from you as it looks at the topic more closely leading up to the Supreme Court cases involving marriage equality, one on Prop 8 and the other on DOMA.
From the CNN Radio website:
Some say the South has a reputation for being less tolerant of gays and lesbians, but we’d like to hear what it’s really like to be gay in the South. What kinds of attitudes have you encountered as a gay person living in the region?
CNN radio has set up a confidential phone line for you to call and leave your contact information and the best time to call for those willing to share their stories.
The number is 855-804-7198.
Bummed out about the bi/queer/trans erasure going on for this!

Mother Jones has a great slideshow featuring twelve images from the new book Honky Tonk: Portraits of Country Music by Henry Horenstein. From the related article, Mark Murrmann writes:
Here you get a look of something real: real people, real country music, real living. Real America, or at least piece of it. The title is a hint at what you get inside: country music (not just country musicians). The cover says it all: a stark, simple photo of a Rock-Ola jukebox pushed against a wall covered with signed promo photos and album covers.
